LeBron Raymone James Sr. is an American professional basketball player for the Los Angeles Lakers of the National Basketball Association. He was selected by Cleveland with the first overall pick of the 2003 NBA draft. He has won four NBA championships, four NBA Most Valuable Player Awards, four Finals MVP Awards, and two Olympic gold medals. In 2018, James opted out of his contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers to sign with the Lakers, where he won the 2020 championship and was awarded his fourth Finals MVP award. He also is a part-owner of Liverpool F. C., with the club having won the 2016 Premier League championship.

James was born on December 30, 1984 in Akron, Ohio to Gloria Marie James, who was 16 at the time of his birth. He later played Amateur Athletic Union basketball for the Northeast Ohio Shooting Stars. As a freshman, James averaged 21 points and 6 rebounds per game for the St. Vincent-St Mary varsity basketball team. For some home games during the season, James played at the Irish School of Akron’s 5-492-seat Rhodes Scholar program. James and his friends Sian Cotton, Dru Joyce III, and Willie McGee dubbed themselves the ‘Fab Four’ and promised each other they would all go to college together. In 2010, James left in 2010 to sign as a free agent with Miami Heat, and is one of the most controversial free agent decisions in sports history.
