It became the franchise’s second box-office bomb, with the first being the 1986 animated film The Transformers: The Movie, grossing USD 605 million worldwide against a production budget between USD 217–260 million, with an estimated loss of over USD 100 million for both Paramount and Hasbro. Returning Transformers include Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Hound, Drift, Crosshairs, Wheelie, Megatron, and Barricade. In the year 484 AD, King Arthur and his knights fight a losing battle against the Saxons. Optimus Prime finally arrives on a heavily damaged Cybertron, and meets his alleged creator Quintessa.

She blames Optimus for Cyberron’s destruction and brainwashes him, renaming him Nemesis Prime. Cade Yeager, an ally to the Autobots, helps hide refugee Transformers from the TRF in his remote junkyard. The TRF release Mohawk, Dreadbot, Nitro Zeus, and Onslaught to aid in the mission. The Decepticons and TRF ambush a TRF convoy with the help of Cade, his assistant Jimmy, Izabella, and Sqweeks. Cogman, a small person sized transformer, appears to meet his employer, Sir Edmund Burton, who has connections to the Transformer community. On his way back, Cade gains an alternate form of Hot Rod, a Transformer associate named Viviane Wembly, a professor of Oxford University, and brings her back to the United Kingdom to battle his enemies. The movie was released in the United States on June 21, 2017, by Paramount Pictures in 2D, 3D, IMAX and IMAX 3D. It was the first Transformers film to be released on Blu-ray and DVD in the U.S., and the second in the UK, following the release of The Transformers 2 in November 2013. It has been released in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia, and New Zealand. The UK release date has yet to be announced. The US release date for the UK version has not yet been announced, but it is expected to be in cinemas in the summer of 2018.
