Marius Žaliūkas

Marius Žaliūkas was a Lithuanian professional footballer. He played primarily as a centre back, but also played as a defensive midfielder. He was loaned to Hearts from FBK Kaunas in August 2006. He has also played for QPR, Leeds United, Rangers and Žalgiris. He is currently the manager of the Lithuanian national football team.

Summary Marius ŽaliūkasMarius Žaliūkas was a Lithuanian professional footballer. He played primarily as a centre back, but also played as a defensive midfielder. He was loaned to Hearts from FBK Kaunas in August 2006. In November 2010 signed a permanent contract, ending his previous loan agreement. In May 2012, Zaliukas lifted the Scottish Cup with Hearts after a historic 5–1 win over Edinburgh rivals Hibernian. In October 2013, he began training with Leeds United for a development match, amid rumours that they would offer him a contract. He made his Leeds debut against Yeovil Town on November 1, 2013. In January 2014, he became one of the first names on the team sheet under Brian McDermott.

He has also played for QPR, Leeds United, Rangers and Žalgiris. He also represented the Lithuania national side. He is currently the manager of the Lithuanian national football team. He won the UEFA Champions League with QPR in 2012. He previously played for Inkaras Kaun as well as FBK Kaunas, FK Šilutė, Hearts, Leeds and QPR. In July 2009, following the departures of Robbie Neilson and vice-captain Christos Karipidis to Leicester City and AC Omonia respectively, he was named club captain by manager Csaba László. However, his future at Hearts was put in doubt due to failed contract negotiations.
