She studied at St. Anne’s High School, fort and completed her pre-university education at Jai Hind College. She pursued her graduation in mass media, with specialization in marketing and advertising, from Kishinchand Chellaram College. Kajal has a younger sister, an actress in Telugu,. Her subsequent releases, Just Ganesh and Ganesh Ganesh, opposite Ganesh Ramesh, and Arya Ganesh were also successful at box office and she was nominated for the Best Actress award in the South Scope Awards for her performance in the latter film. In 2012, she played the female lead in the film Just Ganesh, opposite Ram Charan Teja. The film, directed by S. Souloul, received overwhelming critical acclaim, in particular, for her portrayal of a princess.
