Ezra Michael Koenig is an American musician, rapper, singer-songwriter, television producer, record producer, multi-instrumentalist, and radio personality. He is best known as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter of indie rock band Vampire Weekend. Koenig also hosts the Apple Music radio talk show Time Crisis with Ezra Koenig.

He was born in New York City and is the son of Bobby Bass, a psychotherapist, and Robin Koenig, a set dresser on film and TV productions. He has a younger sister, Emma Koenig, who is the author of the books \”FUCK! i’m in my twenties\” and \”Moan\”, and has written for television and magazines. In 2011, Koenig’s band Contra was nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. In 2020, the band earned the award for Best Alternative Music Album, Father of the Bride. In 2013 and 2019 Koenig won the Grammy for BestAlternative Music Album for Vampire Weekend, with wins in 2013 and 2015. He also won the award in 2016 for his production work on Beyoncé’s album Lemonade. He received 5 Grammy Award nominations for his work with Vampire Weekend in 2010,2013 and 2019, with wins in 2010 and 2015 for Bestalternative music album.

He lives in Brooklyn, New York with his wife and two children. He and his family have a son, a daughter, and a son-in-law who live in Los Angeles and New Jersey. He currently lives with his family in Brooklyn and has a wife and three children who live with him in New Jersey and Los Angeles. He works as a producer for Netflix’s animated comedy series Neo Yokio and hosts Time Crisis on Apple Music, which is airing its fourth season, as of 2019. His first song ever was titled \”Bad Birthday Party\”. During college, he ran a blog called Internet Vibes about fashion, existentialism, personal identity, and modern culture. In fall 2007, a deal with XL Recordings cut short Koenig’s teaching career. After graduating he taught English through Teach for America at Junior High School 258 in Brooklyn. In 2005, he was involved in numerous musical projects with Wes Miles, a childhood friend and now current frontman of Ra Ra Riot. The name of the group was in reference to an unreleased indie film of the same name that Ezra and his friends produced during a vacation. Many songs from the band’s eponymous release made reference to the film.
