Christopher Alvin Stapleton is an American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and record producer. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky, and grew up in Staffordsville, Kentucky. He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2001 to pursue a music career. As of 2018, he has amassed credits writing and co-writing over 170 songs. His fourth studio album, Starting Over, will be released on November 13, 2020.

He moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2001 to pursue a music career. As of 2018, he has amassed credits writing and co-writing over 170 songs. His songs have appeared on many artists albums including Adele, Brad Paisley, and Dierks Bentley. He has been recognized with several awards including five Grammy Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards, and ten Country Music Association Awards. His fourth studio album, Starting Over, will be released on November 13, 2020, with the title track issued as its lead single. He cowrote the theme song to the WSM-AM show, TheSM All-ighter with Marcia Campbell, and cowrote an American radio show with Vince Gill and Al Anderson. He and his wife Morgane sang the live song, ‘Amanda Waylon’, at the Grand Ole Opry in November 2014. They also did an NPR concert in November 2015 at the Tiny Desk Concert at Grand OleOpry in Opry City, Tennessee. He is married to Morgane Waylon, and they have two children, a son, a daughter, and a son-in-law. He currently lives in Nashville with his wife and two children. His music has been featured on the soundtracks of several films, including Chipmunks: The Road To The Top and Chipmunk: The High Road to The Road, The Road to Hell or High Water.

He also appeared on the soundtrack to the film, Alvin’s Day, with his brother, Herbert Joseph III, and his sister, Melanie Brooke. His first single, ‘What Are You Listening To?’, was released in October 2013, but did not perform as expected. The single was part of a recorded but never released record that was never released. His second album, ‘From A Room: Volume 1’, earned him a second CMA Award for Album of the Year and also a Grammy Award for Best Country Album. In 2007, he became the frontman for the bluegrass group The Steeldrivers. In 2010, he founded a Southern rock band called The Jompson Brothers. In 2013, he signed to Mercury Nashville, a division of Universal Music Group Nashville, as a solo artist. In 2014, he released his solo debut: the critically acclaimed studio album titled Traveller, which reached number one on the US Billboard 200 and was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. His second studio album ‘From a Room:  Volume 1’ was released in May 2017, and earned him two CMA Awards.
