Ravichandran Ashwin

Ravichandran Ashwin (born 17 September 1986) is an Indian international cricketer. An all-rounder who bats right-handed and bowls right-arm off break, Ashwin plays for Tamil Nadu in domestic cricket and Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. He is the fastest Indian bowler to reach the 50-, 100-, 150-, 200-, 250-, 300- and 350-wicket mark in Test cricket in terms of number of innings.

In 2016, he became the third Indian to win the ICC Cricketer of the Year award. He was the leading wicket-taker and player of the tournament of the 2010 Champions League Twenty20 in South Africa. Ashwin was also part of the Indian squad that won the 2011 Cricket World Cup. In October 2019, in his 66th Test match, he will become the joint-fastest bowler, along with Muttiah Muralitharan, to take his 350th Test wicket. He started his career as aFast bowler but changed into a spin bowler on the back of his impressive performance in the 2010 Indian Premier league. He made his Test debut against West Indies and became the seventh Indian to take a five- wicket haul on Test debut. He played for Chennai Super Kings in theIndian Premier League and captained the team the following season. He did not get a game in the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and Sri Lanka, with Pragyan Ojha and Jadeja being preferred. His T20I debut came a week later against Zimbabwe at Harare Harare where he took 122 in four overs in an Indian win. He took two five-wickets hauls and scored a century in that series and won the player of-the-series award. In June 2010, he was selected for the second-string squad that toured Zimbabwe and took 38 wickets and took 250 in that match. In May 2011, he made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka and scored 32 runs. He also played for the South Zone cricket team in the South African Premier League, scoring a 32-ball 38 and taking 250 wickets.
