Thomas E. Allen is the head coach of the Indiana Hoosiers football team. He previously served as the defensive coordinator at Indiana and South Florida. Allen was considered a candidate for the position at Auburn following then-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp’s departure on December 15, 2015.

Allen also spent six seasons as defensive coordinator and three seasons as the head football coach at Ben Davis High School in Indianapolis. He spent time as an assistant at Ole Miss, Arkansas State, and Drake, among other programs. In December 2015, Allen was ultimately hired by Kevin Steele to fill the vacant position on Auburn’s defensive coordinator’s position on December 17, 2015. He is a graduate of Maranatha Baptist University, where he participated in football and wrestling. He also played high school football at New Castle High School, where his father was the headFootball coach. He has been married to his wife, Barbara, since 2000. He was a member of the U.S. Army National Guard and served in the Air Force during the Iraq War.

He currently lives in Indiana with his wife and two children. He worked as a teacher in Tampa, Florida, before becoming a college football coach. Allen has been involved in several high school coaching stints, including at Temple Heights Christian School in Tampa and Marion High School. He coached at Wabash College and Lambuth University in Jackson, Tennessee, before joining Hugh Freeze’s coaching staff at Ole Mississippi in 2012. Allen was considered a candidate for the position at Auburn following then-defensive coordinator Will Muschamp’s departure on December 15, 2015, but was ultimately not hired. He now lives in Bloomington, Indiana, and works as a personal trainer for the Indianapolis Colts and the Indiana Pacers. He played football and wrestled in high school, and has coached shot put and wrestling at Maranathas Baptist University.
