She also has a husband and a son with whom she has a daughter, who she has said she is very close to. She lives in Mumbai with her husband and two children, and works as a model for Hindustan Unilever in the city.

She was born on 28 July 1986 into a Muslim family in New Delhi, India. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in History with honours from the Gargi College—University of Delhi. In 2008, she moved to Mumbai to audition for film roles, auditioning for a film, Junction, which was never made. In 2010, she signed a two-year contract to appear in television commercials. During the shoot for a Samsung mobile commercial, Anurag Kashyap noticed her acting ability and signed her for a three-film deal with his company. She described her character as a small-town airhead who thinks she thinks she is the prettiest girl in the village: ‘Mohsina tries to copy everything she sees on the big screens.’ In 2012, she played the lead female role in Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana, and followed it with a role in Ek Thi Daayan. In 2013, she was cast as the supportive wife of a criminal in the crime drama Gangs Of WasseyPur – Part 1. In 2014, she starred in the romantic comedy Ek Tho Daayan, where she played a mother-of-three.
