Pacino is a two-time Tony Award winner, in 1969 and 1977, for his performances in Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie? and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. He has also starred in the thrillers Heat, The Devil’s Advocate, Insomnia, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He currently stars in the Amazon Video web television series Hunters. He also directed and starred in Chinese Coffee, Wilde Salomé, and Salomés. Pacinos is the joint president of the Actors Studio, where he was taught by Charlie Laughton and Lee Strasberg. In 1962, Pacino’s mother died at the age of 43, and he acted in plays in New York’s underground theaters. He was rejected by the HB Studio as a teenager, but was accepted by the Actor’s Studio. He made his film debut at 29 with a minor role in Me, Natalie. He gained favorable notice for his first lead role as a heroin addict in The Panic in Needle Park. His breakthrough role as Michael Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather, for which he received his first Oscar nomination, earned him Best Supporting Actor Oscar nominations. Other notable portrayals include Tony Montana in Scarface, Carlito Brigante in Carlito’s Way, Benjamin Ruggiero in Donnie Brasco, and Lowell Bergman in The Insider.

He had ambitions to become a baseball player and was also nicknamed \”The Actor\”. He attended Herman Ridder Junior High School, but soon dropped out of most of his classes except for English. He subsequently attended the High School of Performing Arts, after gaining admission by audition. In 1994, he made his filmmaking debut with Looking for Richard, directing and starring in this documentary about Richard III; Pacino had played the lead role on stage in 1977. He then went on to star in Angels in America and the Jack Kevorkian biopic You Don’t Know Jack, winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie for each. His two closest friends died from hard drugs at the ages of 19 and 30, but he abstained from drug abuse at nine and 10 years of age. His mother disagreed with his decision and, after an argument, he left home. He later moved with his mother to the Bronx to live with her parents, Kate and James Gerardi, who were Italian immigrants from Corleon, Sicily. His father was from San Fratello, Sicily, and moved to work as an insurance salesman and restaurateur in Covina, California. He acted in a 2004 feature film adaptation and 2010 stage production of The Merchant of Venice.
