The film was released to a positive reception from critics and was a financial success, grossing over four times its USD 20 million budget. It received numerous nominations at the Academy Awards, British Academy Film Awards, and the Saturn Awards, as well as winning the Hugo Award for Best Dramatic Presentation. It is the fourth collaboration between Burton and film score composer Danny Elfman. The character of The Inventor was devised specifically for Vincent Price, and would be his last major role. Edward’s scISSor hands were created and designed by Stan Winston, and were used for the film’s prosthetic hands, which were designed to look like the hands of Edward, not the other way around. The lead character, Edward, is a young man named Edward who is almost completed. Edward is shunned by those in the neighborhood except for Peg Boggs, a local door-to-door Avon saleswoman, who finds him alone and offers to take him to her home after discovering he is virtually harmless.

Edward falls inLove with Kim, despite her initial fear of him, and they marry. Edward returns to find Kim’s parents set out to find him, who asks him to hold her, but he fears he will hurt her. He flees in a rage, destroying his home and scaring his neighbor Esmeralda until he is calmed by a stray dog. In the end, Edward and Kim find each other in the middle of the night and fall in love. The movie was a box office success and was nominated for numerous awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor at the Golden Globes and the BAFTAs. It was released in the U.S. on March 26, 1990, and was released worldwide on July 19, 1990. It has since been released in Europe, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand, and in the United States on July 18, 2010, and on July 25, 2011. It also has been released on DVD in the UK, Australia and the UK on July 26, 2011, and July 27, 2012, in the US on July 28, 2012 and July 29, 2013, and August 28, 2013 in Australia and September 28, 2014 in Australia, and September 27, 2013. The UK version of the film is released on Blu-ray, DVD, Blu-Ray, and Blu- ray, and DVD in Europe and North America on August 27, 2014. The US release date for the UK version is August 7, 2014, but the UK release date has yet to be announced.
