Moneyball is a 2011 American biographical sports drama film directed by Bennett Miller and written by Steven Zaillian and Aaron Sorkin. The film is based on Michael Lewis’s 2003 nonfiction book of the same name, an account of the Oakland Athletics baseball team’s 2002 season. The movie was released on September 23, 2011, to box office success and critical acclaim. It was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor for Pitt and Best Supporting Actor for Hill.

In the film, Beane and assistant general manager Peter Brand build a team of undervalued talent by taking a sophisticated sabermetric approach to scouting and analyzing players. Moneyball premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival and was released on September 23, 2011, to box office success and critical acclaim. It was nominated for six Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor for Pitt and Best Supporting Actor for Hill. Beane later returns to the team to become the general manager, making him the highest-paid general manager in professional sports history, despite the $12.5 million salary he would have made in two years. He later returned to the Boston Red Sox, where he became the team’s general manager for two more years. The team went on to win the 2002 American League Division Series, but lost to the Minnesota Twins in the American League Championship Series. The movie was released in the U.S. cinemas on September 22, 2012, and in the UK on September 25, 2012. It has been released in Europe and Australia on September 28, 2013, and on September 29, 2014, in the United States.

It is currently in production in Australia and New Zealand. It will be released in China on September 26, 2015. The U.K. and Canada will release the film on September 27, 2015, and the Netherlands on September 30, 2016, and Argentina on September 31, 2016. The United States will release it on September 24, 2017, and then in South Korea on October 25, 2017. The US release date is September 26. The UK release date will be September 28 and the US release it the following week on October 27. The American release date would be September 29 and the Canadian release date on October 30, 2007. The English release date was September 28. The Australian release date has been September 30 and the European release date of October 7, 2008. The British release date for the film is September 28 and the American Release date is October 8. The European release is October 9. The USA release date is October 10. The Canadian release date is October 13 and the American Release date  October 14 and October 15 and  the European release of the movie is October 16 and September 17 and 9  respectively.
