Space Jam: A New Legacy is an upcoming American live-actionanimated sports comedy film directed by Malcolm D. Lee. It is a sequel to 1996’s Space Jam and stars basketball player LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Sonequa Martin-Green and Cedric Joe. The film also features the Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Pepé Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, and many more.

It is a sequel to 1996’s Space Jam and stars basketball player LeBron James, as well as Don Cheadle, Sonequa Martin-Green and Cedric Joe. The film also features the Looney Tunes characters such as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Pepé Le Pew, Marvin the Martian, and many more with Kath Soucie reprising her role as Lola Bunny. James also acts as a producer alongside Ryan Coogler, who co-wrote the script with Sev Ohanian. Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled to be released theatrically and on HBO Max in the United States on July 16, 2021, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will be a combination of live- action and traditional hand drawn 2D animation with some CGI effects. The follow-up films were ultimately cancelled in favor of Looney Tunes: Back in Action.

A film titled Skate Jam was in early development with Tony Hawk in the starring role. The potential sequel reentered development as Spy Jam and was to star Jackie Chan in a different script. In July 2015, James and his film studio, SpringHill Entertainment, signed a deal for television, film and digital content after receiving positive reviews for his role in Trainwreck. By August 2018, Justin Lin, Nance Lin, and Alfredo Botello left the project and director, and co-writer, Andrew Dodge, left. In September 2018, Spring Hill Entertainment released a promotional teaser image for the film, with production set to begin in 2019 during the NBA-season off-season. The teaser image was released as a result of a new tax credits program from the state of Los Angeles. It was also announced that the film was set to take place within a 30 mile radius of LA.
