The movie was released in the U.S. on February 14, 2020, and was theatrically released in Europe on February 15, 2020. It is the highest- grossing video game movie adaptation of all time in North America. It has been released in Australia and New Zealand as well as in Europe and South Africa. The UK release date has yet to be announced, but it is expected to be released in December 2020. The US release date for the film has not yet been announced, though it is scheduled to be in the spring of 2019. It will be released on Blu-ray and DVD in the US on February 16, 2019, and on February 17, 2020 in the UK and Australia on February 18, 2020 and February 19, 20, 20 in the rest of the world on February 21, 20 and 21, 21, 22, and 22, respectively, in Europe, Australia and the UK on February 22, 20. The U.K. release date is scheduled on February 23, 20th, 2023, and 20th February 20, 22 and 23, 22 in South Africa, Europe, and South America on February 24, 21 and 28, 20 & 29, 21 in South America, and in Japan on February 29, 20&30, 21 & 30, and 28 in Australia, 28 and 29, 30 and 30, respectively.

It was directed by Jeff Fowler and written by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, with the script by Josh Miller and Pat Casey based on Sega Sammy’s “Sonic” video game. The story follows Sonic, an extraterrestrial blue hedgehog who can run at supersonic speed. He idolizes the local sheriff, Tom Wacowski, and his veterinarian wife, Maddie, unaware the pair are planning to relocate to San Francisco soon, as Tom has been hired by the San Francisco Police Department. Ten years later, Sonic enjoys a secret life near the town of Green Hills, Montana, but longs to make friends. Roboticist and scientific genius Dr. Robotnik is enlisted by the US Department of Defense to uncover the source of the power outage. Robotnik discovers and tracks Sonic, who hides in the Wachowskis’ shed. Tom discovers Sonic and shoots him with a tranquilizer dart, causing Sonic to drop his bag of rings through a portal toSan Francisco. As the pair evade Robotnik, they slowly bond, with Tom learning about Sonic’s desire for a real friend. As he tracks them down, Tom discusses his plans to leave Green Hills.
