Nicolas Paul Stéphane Sarközy de Nagy-Bocsa (; born 28 January 1955) is a retired French politician. He served as President of France and ex officio Co-Prince of Andorra from 16 May 2007 until 15 May 2012. He is of one half Hungarian Protestant, one quarter Greek Jewish, and one quarter French Catholic origin. Sarkozy married Italian-French singer-songwriter Carla Bruni in 2008 at the Élysée Palace in Paris.

Sarkozy married Italian-French singer-songwriter Carla Bruni in 2008 at the Élysée Palace in Paris. He won the 2007 French presidential election by a 53. 1% to 46. 9% margin against Socialist Ségolène Royal. After leaving the presidential office, Sarkozy vowed to retire from public life before coming back in 2014, being subsequently reelected as UMP leader. He has been charged with corruption by French prosecutors in two cases, notably concerning the alleged Libyan interference in the 2007French elections. He said that being abandoned by his father shaped much of who he is today. The family lived in a mansion owned by Sarkozy’s maternal grandfather, Benedict Mallah, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. They later moved to Neuilly-sur-Seine, one of the wealthiest communes of the Île-de-France région. He completed his military service as a part-time Air Force cleaner. After passing the bar, he became a lawyer specializing in business and family law and was one of Silvio Berlusconi’s French lawyers.

They had two sons, Pierre-Dominique Culioli, now a business mentor, and Pierre-Pierre Sarkozy, who is now a hip-hop artist. He was married to his first wife, Marie-Dominiques Culiol, on September 23, 1982; her father was a pharmacist from Vico, her uncle was Achille Peretti, her father’s pharmacist, and her uncle is her uncle Vico Vico Peretti, her uncle’s business partner. He and his wife have two children, a daughter and a son-in-law, both of whom are also politicians. He had two children with his second wife, Caroline-Anne Culiol. He also has a son with his third wife, Nathalie, and a daughter with his fourth wife, Brigitte-Marie-Anne, who was a lawyer and a mother-of-two. He currently lives in Paris with his wife and their two children in the town of Le Touquet, near the city of Nître-Drouot in the Normandy region of France. He lives with his family in an apartment block he built in the 1970s and 1980s. He previously lived with his parents in the Paris suburb of Neuville. He worked as a lawyer for several years in the 1980s and 1990s, and was a member of the National Council of the French Communist Party (NCD) and the French Socialist Party (PSC). Sarkozy is the son of Pál István Ernő Sárközy, a Protestant Hungarian aristocrat, and Andrée Jeanne \”Dadu\” Mallah.
