Max Emilian Verstappen (born 30 September 1997) is a Belgian-Dutch racing driver. He is currently competing in Formula One, under the Dutch flag, with Red Bull Racing. At 18, he won the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, becoming the youngest-ever driver and the first Dutch driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix. He will remain at Red Bull until the end of the 2023 season.

At the age of 18, he won the 2016 Spanish Grand Prix, becoming the youngest-ever driver and the first Dutch driver to win a Formula One Grand Prix. His father, Jos, is a Dutch former Formula One driver. His first cousin once removed, Anthony Kumpen, competed in endurance racing and is a two-time NASCAR Whelen Euro Series champion and currently serves as the team manager for PK Carsport in Euro Series. He has lived in Monaco since October 2015, claiming it was not for tax reasons. He decided to compete with a Dutch racing licence because he ‘feels more Dutch’ than his Belgian mother. He officially chose solely the Dutch nationality when he came of age. He competed in F1 for more than half a season before obtaining a road driver’s licence on his 18th birthday. In 2012, he was picked for the Intrepid Driver Program to race in the KF2 and KZ2 classes. He won the 2013 World KZ1 championship at Varennes-sur-Allier, France. In 2013, he competed at the SKUSA SuperNationals in Kz2 class in a CRG-built Zanardi kart. He finished the 2019 championship in third place, ahead of both Ferrari drivers.

He will remain at Red Bull until the end of the 2023 season after signing a contract extension. His mother, Sophie, was born in Belgium and resided in Bree, Belgium, but she has a Dutch father. He was signed by CRG to race at the world and European championships. In 2011, Verst appen won the WSK Euro Series in a Parilla-powered CRG. He also competed in KF3 World Cup, finishing second to the more experienced Alexander Albon but beat him at the W SK Euro Series and also won the WSK World Series, beating Robert Vișoiu. In the South Garda Winter Cup, he beat Dennis Fuoco, beating CRG driver Felice Tiene Olsen and Antonio Tiene, at the KF2 class, beating Dennis Fuoco and Antonio Olsen at the South Granada Winter Cup. He left CRG in 2012 to leave the factory karting team and returned to the factory CRG team in 2013. In 2014, he finished second in the European KF1 championship. In 2015, he competed in the KZZ1 World Cup in a CRG kart, finishing second to Alexander Albon. In 2016, he started his 2016 campaign with the Italian team Scuderia Toro Rosso before being promoted to parent team Red Bull after four races as a replacement for Daniil Kvyat. At 17, he became the youngest driver to compete inFormula One racing.
