Manuel Arturo Machado (born July 6, 1992) is a Dominican-American professional baseball third baseman and shortstop for the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball. Machado was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles with the third overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft. He made his MLB debut in August 2012. In 2013, Machado earned a spot on the American League All-Star team on his way to leading the league in doubles with 51. He was also recognized as one of the best fielders in the game, winning a Gold Glove Award in 2015. In 2016, he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers and helped the team make the World Series.

He hit his first career home run on August 12, 2012, in the 2012 ALDS Game 3 of the ALDS against the Boston Red Sox. He then hit his third career homerun on August 11, 2013, against former number one overall draft choice Luke Hochevar. The following day, against the same opponent, he hit his second and second home runs, making him the youngest Oriole and 12th youngest player in major league history to have multi-homer game. He had three hits, giving him 27 hits and giving him 24 runs on May 27, 2013. He finished his rookie season having played in all 51 of the remaining games.
