The rivalry between the two actresses is cited as an alternative to the Martina-Elizabeth Bergner origin of Mary Orr’s short story, The Wisdom of Eve, the basis of the 1950 film All About Eve. Scott has said that her fondest memory of Myerberg was him telling her, ‘I love you, but the two of you will never be together again’ She died in Los Angeles, California, in 1998, at the age of 83. She is survived by her husband, two children, and a stepdaughter, all of whom are now in their 80s and 90s. She died of lung cancer in 2011, aged 89. She had a daughter, Emma Matzo, who is now a television producer and producer-director. She also has a son, Michael Matzo. She has a daughter and a son-in-law, both of whom also work in television and film. She appeared on television from the late 1940s to early 1970s, and on radio from the mid-1970s to the late 1980s.
