Joseph diGenova is an American lawyer, political commentator, and conspiracy theorist. He served as the United States Attorney for the District of Columbia from 1983 to 1988. On September 18, 2018,DiGenova discounted charges that U. S. Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, then 17 years old, had allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old Christine Blasey Ford at a party. The allegations referred to a time when Kavanaugh was attending Georgetown Preparatory School. Di Genova called on President Trump to pardon Scooter Libby, adviser of Dick Cheney, who was found guilty of perjury in an investigation revolving around leaks of sensitive classified material. Trump pardoned Libby on April 13, 2018. Di Genovans were hired to serve on Trump’s legal team for the Special Counsel investigation, but Trump backtracked due to potential conflicts of interest.
