It grossed over USD 321 million in theaters worldwide, making it Tarantino’s highest-grossing film to that point, until it was surpassed in box office by Django Unchained and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. In 1944, Lieutenant Aldo Raine of the First Special Service Force rounds up and recruits Jewish-American soldiers to the Basterd, a commando unit formed to instill fear among the German soldiers by killing and scalping them.

Shosanna Dreyfus is living in Paris, operating a cinema under the name \”Emmanuelle Mimieux. \” She meets Fredrick Zoller, a sniper famed for killing 250 Allied soldiers in a single battle. Zoller convinces Joseph Goebbels to hold the film’s premiere at her cinema. In 1941, SS-Standartenführer Landa interrogates French dairy farmer Perrier LaPadite as to the whereabouts of the last unaccounted-for Jewish family in the area. Landa orders his SS soldiers to shoot through the floorboards, killing all but one of the DreyFus family; Shos Hanna, the daughter, escapes. In 1942, Hicox is recruited to lead Operation Kino, a British plan to attack the Nazi leaders who will attend the premiere with the Bastersd. Their cover is blown, triggering a gunfight that kills everyone in the tavern except Sergeant Wilhelm and Gestapo Major Dieter Hellström. In 1945, the Allied forces kill the German leaders at the premiere, except for Hicicox, who gives himself away by using a British accent and giving himself away using a hand gesture. In 1946, the Allies kill the Gestapo officers who will be attending the premiere in a German-occupied northern France to meet German star Bridget von Hammersmark.
