Anderson was selected by the Braves with the third overall pick of the 2016 MLB draft. He made his major league debut in 2020. Anderson is the youngest pitcher in MLB postseason history to allow fewer than three hits while striking out nine while pitching at least six innings.

Anderson has a brother named Ben Anderson who played baseball for the Binghamton University Blue Jays before being drafted by Toronto.
