Bradford City Association Football Club were founded in Bradford in 1903. They were elected to the Football League to replace Doncaster Rovers in Division Two. The club won the Division Two title in 1908 and the FA Cup in 1911. City were relegated from Division One in 1921–22 and were relegated again five seasons later. In January 2013, City became the first club from the fourth tier of English football since 1962 to reach the FA League Cup final. They are the first fourth-tier club ever to reach a major Wembley Cup Final.

Summary History of Bradford City A.F.C.Bradford City Association Football Club were founded in Bradford in 1903. They were elected to the Football League to replace Doncaster Rovers in Division Two. The club won the Division Two title in 1908 and the FA Cup in 1911. City were relegated from Division One in 1921–22 and were relegated again five seasons later. In 1987–88, the club came close to returning to the top division when they missed out on promotion on the final day of the season. In January 2013, City became the first club from the fourth tier of English football since 1962 to reach the FA League Cup final. They are the first fourth-tier club ever to reach a major Wembley Cup Final. City are the only club to have been elected to The Football League without having played a competitive game. They play their home games at the Valley Parade stadium, which has been their permanent home ground ever since. Their first home game was a 2–0 defeat away at Grimsby Town on September 1, 1903. It was not until the third game that the club recorded their first victory, on the way to a 10th-place finish. Their last game was against Burton United on September 10, 2013, in front of a crowd of 11,000. The match ended in a 1-0 victory for Burton, and the club have never been relegated from the league. The team are currently in the third tier of the English football league system, playing in the Championship, the Premier League and the Capital One Cup. They have won the League Cup three times, the most recent of which came in the 2010-11 season, and have never lost a league game in the competition.

City have never won a FA Cup or League Cup, and are yet to win a trophy in any of the four tiers of professional English football. Their most recent trophy came in 2012–13, when they reached the FA Community Cup final, beating Manchester United 2-1. The last time they won a major trophy was the FA Premier League Cup in 2002, when City reached the semi-finals of the competition for the first time in their history. They also won the FA Youth Cup in 2003, and were runners-up in the FA Senior Cup in the same year. The first team to play in the Cup final was Bradford City, who were also the first team from the West Riding of Yorkshire to do so. The Bradford Schools Football and Athletic Association abandoned its rugby roots to adopt the association football code in the late 19th century. A committee decided to leave the rugby code and switch to association football. In 1903, Manningham FC were a rugby league club formed in 1880 and became a founding member of the Northern Rugby Football Union in 1895. A series of meetings was held, and on 29 May 1903, at the 23rdannual meeting of ManninghamFC, the committee decided that Bradford City would be the club’s name. The committee assembled a squad at the cost of £917. Robert Campbell was appointed by a 13-man sub-committee to be the first secretary.
