Hellraiser is a 1987 British supernatural horror film written and directed by Clive Barker. It is based on Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart and marked Barker’s directorial debut. It was followed by nine sequels, the first seven of which featured Bradley reprising his role as Pinhead. The final sequel, Hellraiser 2, was released in 2009.

The ninth and final sequels are expected to be released in 2020 and 2021. The fourth and fifth sequels are scheduled for release in 2022 and 2023. The eighth and ninth sequels are due in 2023 and 2026. The last one is scheduled for 2027 and 2028. The films were filmed in late 1986 and early 1987, and were directed by Barker and produced by Christopher Figg. The music for the film was re-scored by Christopher Young. Some of Coil’s themes were reworked by Young into the final score. The movie was released on September 10, 1987, at the Prince Charles Cinema in London.

The soundtrack was composed by John Cusack, who also wrote the score for The Godfather: Part II, Part III, Part IV, Part V, Part VI, and Part VII. The opening credits were written by Barker, who wrote the screenplay for the first film, and directed the music for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the Sun, Part VII, Part I, Part II and Part IV. The second film was released September 16, 1987. The ending was filmed on September 17, 1987 at the Palace Theatre in London, and was directed by Robert Zemeckis. The film was directed by Barker and Chris Figg for the third film, The Godfather, Part VIII, and the fourth film was The Lords of the Underworld, Part IX, Part X, Part XI, Part XII, and part XI, all directed by Barker and Figg in the same year. The plot involves a man who buys a puzzle box from a dealer in Morocco. When he solves the puzzle, hooked chains emerge and tear him apart. The room is filled with swinging chains and covered with the remnants of his body. Some time afterward, Frank’s brother Larry moves into the house to rebuild his strained relationship with his second wife, Julia, who had an affair with Frank shortly before their wedding. Julia begins picking up men in bars and bringing them back to the house, where she mortally wounds them.
