Faf du Plessis

Francois du Plessis is a South African international cricketer and former captain of the South Africa national cricket team. He made his Test debut in November 2012, he became the fourth South African to score a Test century on debut. He took over the Test captaincy in December 2016 and assumed full-time captaincy of all formats of the game in August 2017. In October 2018, he was named in Paarl Rocks’ squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. He has been selected by Peshawar Zalmi to feature in the playoffs of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League.

In October 2018, he was named in Paarl Rocks’ squad for the first edition of the Mzansi Super League T20 tournament. He has been selected by Peshawar Zalmi to feature in the playoffs of the fifth season of the Pakistan Super League, to be held in Karachi later that month following a postponement since March due to COVID-19. He appeared only in one match as Peshawar were eliminated from the tournament after losing to Lahore Qalandars in the first eliminator. In September 2019, he has been named in the squad to play for the Paarl rocks team for the 2019 Mzan Super League tournament. He was selected by Colombo Kings for the inaugural edition of Lanka Premier League to be played from late November to mid-December. He is a part-time leg spin bowler and has played for Lancashire County Cricket Club, Chennai Super Kings and Rising Pune Supergiants. He took over the Test captaincy in December 2016 and assumed full-time captaincy of all formats of the game in August 2017 after teammate AB de Villiers relinquished the two limited overs captaincies.

He had a very successful season with the Chennai SuperKings scoring 398 runs in IPL 2012. He scored 188 runs in the 6-match match against Australia at the Adelaide Oval in 2012. In the next test, he scored a not-saving 110-saving 150-run stand with Vernon Philander. He later made his ODI debut against India and made unbeaten 60 runs. In November 2012 he was selected as Man-of-the-match for the 2012 World Cup on the Indian Sub-continent and was ultimately selected as the South African team’s captain for the final match. In March 2010, it was announced that du P lessis would no longer be allowed to play as a Kolpak player after changes to the Kolpak rules. In June 2019, du P Lessis was selected to play in the Edmonton Royals franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament. His last appearance in the tournament was in the final of the tournament against LahoreQalandar in June 2019. He also played in the semi-final of the competition in September 2013. He played for Northerns and the Titans, as well as matches for the Lancashire League for Todmorden. In April 2008, he played for Mansfield Hosiery Mills in the local Nottinghamshire leagues and in the Lancashires League. He signed a new three-year deal with the club in April 2008.
