About Enta da Stage in brief

Summary Enta da StageEnta da Stage is the debut album of American East Coast hip hop group Black Moon. It was released on October 19, 1993, through Nervous Records. The album was produced by Black Moon member DJ Evil Dee along with Mr. Walt of Da Beatminerz. It features the debut of underground hip hop duo Smif-N-Wessun, as well as appearances from Havoc of Mobb Deep and Dru Ha, the co-founder of Duck Down Records. Despite being critically acclaimed and having two singles that charted on the Billboard Hot 100, the album sold poorly. It served as a precursor to the resurgence of the New York hip hop scene in the mid-1990s. The lead MC of the group, Buckshot, appears on every song but ‘Son Get Wrec’ The album’s lyrics are filled with violent narratives and braggadocio. Unlike later work by New York City peers like Nas, the lyrical content found here does not peer deeply into social issues or provide much substance. In a 2005 interview, producer 9th Wonder stated that Buckshot’s style strongly influenced the current sound of hip hop and that the singles ‘Who Got da Props? and ‘How Many Many MC’s changed his life… The album choruses involve multiple voices yelling the lyrics.

These vocals were provided by Havoc and Mr. Walt, and the trio’s songs were written by the trio themselves. The group finished recording Enta da stage at New York’s D&D Studios between late 1992 and early 1993, and prepared it for a late 1993 release date. Their first group release was their 1992 single ‘Who got da Pro props?’, which is now hailed as a classic hip hop single. It peaked at number 86 on theBillboard Hot 100 chart in early 1993. The first single was released in 1992, and it is considered to be one of the best hip hop singles of all time. The second single, ‘How many MC’s do you know?’, was released the following year. The single was also released in 1993, but it did not reach the top of the Hot 100. The third and final single was issued in 1994, and reached the top 10 on the charts. The fourth and final song on the album was ‘Who gets da props?’. It was the last single released by the group before the release of ‘Son get Wrec’, which peaked at No. 8 on the Hot100 chart in March 1994. The final single, released in April 1994, was ‘How about a Getaway?’
