DeSean Jackson

DeSean William Jackson is an American football wide receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National Football League. He played college football for the University of California, Berkeley, where he was recognized as a consensus All-American. Jackson has been selected to the Pro Bowl three times, and was the first player to be selected at two different positions in the same year. He was drafted by the Eagles in the second round of the 2008 NFL Draft.

Jackson was born in Los Angeles, California, and grew up in the Crenshaw neighborhood of Los Angeles. He attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School, the same high school as future Philadelphia Eagles teammate Winston Justice and many other current NFL players. Jackson caught 60 passes for 1,075 yards for 15 touchdowns his senior year, leading the Jackrabbits to a CIF Southern Section championship. He also ran track and played baseball and was scouted by both the Tampa Bay Rays and Philadelphia Phillies in hisSenior year. In track, he was timed at 10. 5 seconds in the 100 meters. Jackson entered his junior season being considered a Heisman Trophy candidate, but did not win the award. In his senior season, he caught 11 passes for 161 yards and two touchdowns to lead the California Golden Bears to their first victory in Autzen Stadium since 1987. Jackson finished the 2007 season with 65 catches for 762 yards, and scored six touchdowns as a receiver and return specialist for the Golden Bears.

In 2008, Jackson captured the inaugural Randy Moss Award as the top returner in the nation. He earned first-team All-Pac-10 honors as both a punt returner and a wide receiver. In 2010, Jackson was named to the 2010 Pro Bowl as a wide Receiver and Return Specialist. He has also been a member of the New England Patriots, New York Giants, and the New York Jets. He is the son of former NFL player and former Cal football player, Bill Jackson. Jackson is the brother of former Cal wide receiver and Cal baseball player, Michael Jackson, and ex-U.S. Soccer star Michael Jackson. He currently plays for the New Orleans Saints and the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC East division of the American Football Conference (AFC) and the NFC West Division (Coastal Division). He is also the cousin of NFL star and former San Diego Chargers player, LZ Granderson. Jackson also has a son with former NFL star, Michael Granderson, and a daughter with ex-NFL star and San Diego State University wide receiver, Lenny Kravitz. His brother, Michael, is the nephew of former California State University, San Diego head coach Jeff Tedford, and former NFL head coach, Jim Harbaugh. He won the 2004 Glenn Davis Award winner by the Los Angeles Times as Southern California’s player of the year. During his high school career, Jackson caught seven passes for 141 yards and passed for a 45-yard touchdown in leading the West to a 35–3 victory in a game that featured 80 of the nation’s top players.
