Tokyo Mew Mew

Tokyo Mew Mew is a Japanese shōjo manga series written by Reiko Yoshida and illustrated by Mia Ikumi. It focuses on five girls infused with the DNA of endangered animals which gives them special powers. The series was adapted into a 52 episode anime series by Studio Pierrot. A two-volume sequel to the manga, Tokyo Mew Mew à la Mode, was serialized in Nakayoshi from April 2003 to February 2004.

The series was adapted into a 52 episode anime series by Studio Pierrot. A two-volume sequel to the manga, Tokyo Mew Mew à la Mode, was serialized in Nakayoshi from April 2003 to February 2004. Tokyopop originally licensed the manga series for English-language publication in North America and released the complete original series as well as the sequel, with Kodansha Comics planning to re-publish the series with a new translation in September 2011. In 2020, a short 2- chapter sequel was released called Tokyo Mew. Mew 2020 Re-Turn which includes all main characters with updated designs. A spinoff, titled Tokyo. Mew Mew Olé!, which features a new team of male Mew. Mews, was also released. A new anime adaptation was announced for April 2, 2020, but its release date has yet to be confirmed. It debuted in Japan on April 6, 2002, on both TV Aichi and TV Tokyo; the final episode aired on March 29, 2003. The anime adaptation received high ratings while airing in Japan, resulting in numerous marketing tie-ins. 4Kids Entertainment licensed the anime series for North American broadcast under the name Mew Mew Power. It was licensed for regional release in several other countries instead of the original Japanese series.

Despite criticism for extensive editing that removed most of the Japanese elements, the Mew Mew power dub became the highest rated 4Kids show during its broadcast. It has never been released to home video. The first Mew Mew Ichigo encounters is Minto Aizawa, a spoiled, wealthy girl and ballerina who is infused with. the genes of the blue loret; Retorikawa, a shy but smart girl who endures constant bullying from three girls. One Mew Mew dies from an alien bite, but later comes back to life and joins the Mews fighting to destroy the other Mewas. As Mew Mew Tart, Quiche falls in love with Quiche and tries to eliminate the alien controllers Quiche, Pie Tart, and Quiche Tart. The Mew Mew Mew defeats Quiche in a battle that intensifies the fighting between the Mew Mewes and the aliens. The final Mew Mew, Berry Shirayuki, is on a trip to England. She is ordered to defeat Chimera Animas—alien parasites which infect animals and turn them into monsters. She becomes the temporary leader of the MewMews, while Ichigo is on her trip to UK. The sequel introduces a new Mew Mew to the Mewmews, who becomes a temporary leader, as well. In the second volume, Berry becomes a Mew Mew herself. The third volume, the sequel introduces the new leader, Mew Mew A la Mode. The last volume of the sequel features a Mewmew, who is a young girl named Buing Huang, a professional actress and model.
