It reached the top 5 of the indie rock chart of the UK and the top 10 of the U.S. charts in early April 2004. It sold over 1.5 million copies and the album was a No.1 album on the Billboard chart in the US in April 2004, but reached the bottom of the US charts in April 2005. It has since been remastered and re-released twice, with the most recent version of the album being released in August 2014.
