For several years during the 1970s he hosted a sports talk-show called Sports-a-la-King that featured 30-minute callers and callers that featured guests such as Bobby Darin and Louis Wolfson. He also wrote a weekly column at the Miami Beach Sun-Beach newspaper for several years. In the 1990s, he wrote a column for the Miami Sun-beach newspaper about the Miami Dolphins. In 2000, King was inducted into the Broadcasters’ Hall of Fame for his work as a sports commentator. He died in a car accident in Florida on December 20, 2011. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, and a son. He had a son, Larry King Jr., and a daughter-in-law.
