In 1971, he was dismissed by both WIOD and WTVJ as a late-night radio host and sports commentator after being accused of larceny by a former business partner. The charges were dropped and King was rehired by WIOD. For several years during the 1970s he hosted a sports talk-show called Sports-a-la-King that featured 30-minute callers and callers that featured guests such as Bobby Darin and Louis Wolfson. He also wrote a weekly column at the Miami Beach Sun-Beach newspaper for several years. In the 1990s, he wrote a column for the Miami Sun-beach newspaper about the Miami Dolphins.
