He escapes before Carl realizes that he was fooled. Frank is taken to a French prison, but almost dies two years later due to the poor conditions. Frank surrenders after seeing his mother moved on with her life and has aYoung daughter. Frank then re-assumes his identity as aPan Am pilot and stages a false recruiting drive for stewardesses at a local college. He conceals himself from Carl and the other agents walking through the Miami airport with the stewardess and escapes on a flight to Madrid, Spain. One weekend he is intercepted by Carl who wants Frank to return to the FBI on Monday. On Monday, Frank grows nervous when Frank has not yet arrived at the office. However, Frank eventually shows up and they discuss their next case. Frank shows up at the FBI office and says he has been working for the FBI for 26 years and has built up a reputation as an expert in bank security. The FBI is impressed and allows Frank to serve the remainder of his sentence working for a bank fraud unit. Frank eventually leaves the FBI and returns to New York.
