The 2009 FedEx Orange Bowl was the 75th edition of the annual American college football bowl game known as the Orange Bowl. It pitted the 2008 Atlantic Coast Conference champion Virginia Tech Hokies against the Big East Conference champion Cincinnati Bearcats. Virginia Tech defeated Cincinnati, 20–7, at Dolphin Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Cincinnati won the game 45–20, and went on to play the Ohio State Buckeyes in the Ohio Valley Conference championship game, which the Buckeyes won 45-20. For its third game of its season, Ohio State traveled to Miami, Florida, to play against the Miami Dolphins, who were ranked No. 1 in the nation at the time of the game.
