Players control a character avatar within a game world in third- or first-person view, exploring the landscape, fighting various monsters, completing quests, and interacting with non-player characters or other players. Much of Warcraft play involves the completion of quests, usually available from NPCs, and usually reward the player with experience points, items, and in-game money. Quests are linked by a common theme, forming a chain of events triggered by each consecutive quest. The game’s story is told through the quests, both through the game’s text and through scripted NPC actions. The Burning Crusade, Wrath of the Lich King, Cataclysm, Mists of Pandaria, Warlords of Draenor, Legion, Battle for Azeroth, and Shadowlands are all major expansion packs for the game.
