Waiting is a 2015 Indian drama film directed by Anu Menon. It stars Naseeruddin Shah and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles. Rajat Kapoor, Suhasini Maniratnam, Arjun Mathur, Ratnabali Bhattacharjee and Rajeev Ravindranathan play supporting roles in the film. The film had its world premiere at the Dubai International Film Festival on 11 December 2015. It was released theatrically in India on 27 May 2016.

It had a below average run at the box office, collecting a total of ₹35 million during its theatrical run. It also marked the Hindi film debut of the prominent South Indian actress-director Su hasini Manoratnam. The soundtrack was composed by New Zealand-based singer-songwriter Mikey McCleary, and Nitin Baid and Apurva Asrani edited the film, and Atika Chohan wrote the dialogue. It is also the first Hindi film to be directed by Menon, who won the Best Director Award at the London Asian Film Festival in June 2014. It has been described as a love story between two people from different walks of life who befriend each other in a hospital, while nursing their respective comatose spouses. The two start spending most of their spare time together coping with their grief, despite being completely opposite in nature. They bond over their similar situations, and share a light moment in the waiting lounge of a hospital in Kochi.

The movie was well received by critics, with particular praise for the performances of KoeChlin and Shah, and Menon’s direction. It was released in India by Ishka Films and Drishyam Films under the banner of Priti Gupta and Manish Mundra respectively, and was released in the United States by The Weinstein Company on 26 November 2015. The film is currently being distributed by Viacom 18, which is releasing it in the UK on 27 November 2015, and in the U.S. on 26 December 2015, with a UK release date of 8 November 2015 and in Australia on 8 November 2016. The UK release dates of the film have yet to be announced, but it is expected to be released in Australia and the UK later this year. The US release date has not yet been announced, though it is rumoured that it will be in the summer of 2015. The Indian release date for the film is scheduled to be September 15, 2015. It will also be screened at the Venice Film Festival and the Berlin Film Festival, and at the Toronto Film Festival. The U.K. release dates for the London Film Festival are scheduled for September 14, 2015 and September 21, 2015, as well as at the New York Film Festival in New York City and the Venice Festival in the fall of that year. It opens in the US on 28 September 2015 and opens in Europe on 29 September 2015.
