In 2016, Herman’s second season with Houston, the Cougars slipped to a 9–3 regular-season record. On November 27, 2016, Houston’s final contest of the regular season was a 27-4 victory over the Texas Longhorns, which included unblemished marks in games at TDECU Stadium.
