Title TK

Title TK is the third studio album by American alternative rock band the Breeders. It was released on May 20 and 21, 2002 by 4AD in the UK and Elektra Records in the United States, and on May 10 by P-Vine Records in Japan. Of the twelve songs on the album, ten are credited solely to Kim Deal; the other two were written by all five band members. It is the only Breeders album to feature all five members of the original line-up from the group’s formation in 1989 until the mid-1990s.

Reviewers have described the lyrics on the songs as unconventional and dark, and noted the prominence of vocal harmonies between the Deal sisters. It has been generally positive; appraisal has included commendation for Albini’s contributions to the sound of the album and for how the recordings isolate individual instruments. It is the only Breeders album to feature all five members of the original line-up from the group’s formation in 1989 until the mid-1990s. The group has since released four more albums, including two with new drummer Jose Medeles, and one with new bassist Andrew Mando Lopez. The band has also recorded with members of Fear, the Pixies, and the Police, among others. The album’s name means ‘title to come’ in journalistic shorthand. The track titles are: ‘Off You’, ‘Huffer’, ‘Son of Three’, ‘Too Alive’, ‘The Drive’ and ‘The title of the second track, ‘The Title to Come’, is a reference to the song ‘TheTitle to Come’ from the band’s first album, ‘Last Splash’ (1993).

The album was released as a double album with two bonus tracks: ‘The Name of the Game’ (1994) and ‘A Song For You’ (1995). It was the first Breeders’ album to be released with all five original members in the same studio. It also featured a single, ‘I Want You Back’, which was released the same year as the album’s first single. The single was a No. 1 hit in Australia and No. 2 in the U.S. and Canada. The second single was ‘I Need You Back’ (1998). The group’s third album, The title of this album is ‘The Song of the Year’, which came out the same month as ‘Son Of Three’ (1999). The band’s fourth and final album was ‘The Secret’ (2000) with four new members. The fifth and final song, ‘For You’, was released a year later. The last two tracks were ‘The Sound of You’, a cover of a song by The Beatles, and ‘I Don’t Want To Be Loved’ (2001). The fourth and last track is called ‘The Truth’ (2002) with two new members, Richard Presley and Jaime Lopez, joining the group in the studio.
