It was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at the 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards and won seven Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards. A second season premiered on October 30, 2020. A third season is also in development, and The Book of Boba Fett has been announced for release in December 2021. Two planned spin-off series announced in December 2020 will expand on the series’ timeline, Rangers of the New Republic and Ahsoka. The first season features several recurring co-stars, including Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, leader of a bounty hunter guild. Other recurring-stars for the second season include Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto, who was the first season’s co-set-set performer for the first week of the series, and Ming-Na Wen as Shand. George Lucas began development on a live- action Star Wars television series by 2009, but the project was deemed too expensive to produce. After he sold Lucasfilm to Disney in October 2012, work on a new Star Wars series began for Disney+ Favreau signed on in March 2018, serving as writer and showrunner. The series’ title was announced in October 2018 with the start of filming at Manhattan Beach Studios in California.

The second season of The Mandalorian will be released on November 12, 2019 with the service’s launch. It is unclear if the latter is aspin-off or the third season. The third season will be announced for December 2021, but it is unclear whether the latter will be a spin-offs or the fourth season, which is expected to be released in December 2022. The fourth season is scheduled for December 20, 2019, and the fifth season for December 21, 2019. The sixth and seventh season are scheduled for November 20, 2020, and November 21, 20, 20 and November 22, 20 respectively. The seventh and eighth season is set for November 27, 2020 and November 28, 20. The final season will air on November 30, 20th, and December 31, 2023. It will be called “The Last Mandalorian” and will focus on the final season of “The First Mandalorian”, which is scheduled to air in December 20th. The series is set in the same universe as the first Star Wars film, but in a different time period. The last season will also focus on two new characters, the Mandalorian bounty hunter Din Djarin and a former Rebel shock trooper-turned-mercenary, Cara Dune. The title character is a lone bounty hunter who is hired to retrieve an alien child of the same species as Yoda, but ends up caring for him and attempting to reunite him with his kind. He is revealed to be a former Jedi youngling named Grogu who survived Order 66.
