He has also played for Nice, Angers, Gazélec Ajaccio and Châteauroux. Benrahm was born in Téménchent, and grew up in Anderlecht. He made his professional debut for Nice in 2013. In July 2018, he joined Brentford on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. In September 2015, he was called up to the Algeria national team for friendly matches against Guinea and Senegal.

He was called into the squad for the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations, but was forced to withdraw due to injury. In March 2019, he won his second international cap with a start in a 1–0 win over Tunisia. He also made his debut for the Algerian national team in the 1-0 victory over Baghdad Bounedjah on October 13, 2015. In October 2020, he signed for Premier League club West Ham on an initial season-long loan deal.
