About Obi-Wan Kenobi in brief

Summary Obi-Wan KenobiObi-Wan is a Jedi Master and mentor to Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy. In the prequel trilogy, he is a Padawan to Qui-Gon-Jinn and a friend to Luke’s father Anakin. The character briefly appears in the sequel trilogy as a disembodied voice. He is frequently featured as a main character in various other Star Wars media. Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor are set to return as Obi-Wan in a web series on Disney+ centered on the character that takes place ten years after Revenge of the Sith and prior to A New Hope, with Hayden Christensen returning as Anakin Skywalker. In an early draft of the original Star Wars film, Obi- Wan’s first meeting with Luke Skywalker is lifted directly from The Hobbit, acknowledging Gandalf as a source of inspiration. George Lucas originally planned for Obi-wan to live through the original film, but found that the character had nothing to do during the culminating battle sequence. Lucas later reflected that he felt that it would be much more powerful, satisfying and interesting if Darth Vader were to kill him and he were to go on to a different form. He was inspired by General Makabe Rokurōta, a character from Akira Kurosawa’s film The Hidden Fortress, played by Toshiro Mifune. The character is a member of an ancient group of Force-sensitive warriors. He explains that the Jedi were hunted down and exterminated by the Empire with help from his former apprentice, Darth Vader.

He gives Luke his father’s lightsaber and asks him to accompany him to Alderaan and take up Jedi training. Luke, at first, declines; but after finding that his aunt Beru and uncle Owen have been killed by Imperial stormtroopers, he realizes he must go with Obi-Chan and to train as a Jedi. The now-found R2-D2 contains the plans for the Galactic Empire’s superweapon: the Death Star. Princess Leia asked him to deliver the plans safely to her home planet of Alderaa in order to help the Rebel Alliance. He becomes worried when the Millennium Falcon is destroyed by the Imperial TIE Fighter, and tells Luke to escape to hyperspace. During the mission, he encounters Darth Vader, and they engage in a lightsaber duel to distract him as Han Solo and Chewbacca escape. Not long before long, he uses the lightsaber to distract Darth Vader to distract Han Solo, Chewbaca, and the Star Star, and get caught in the tractor beam of the Star Wars station’s tractor beam. He then makes a deal to help Han Solo make a deal with the Wookiee. During this time, he begins instructing Luke in lightsaber combat and tells him that the Force is a great disturbance in the Force. He also tells Luke his secret identity and explains that he was born a Jedi, and that he is the son of Ben Kenobi, a former member of the Knights of the Round Table. He dies in a battle with Darth Vader in the Battle of the Chosen One.
