About Madonna in brief

Summary MadonnaMadonna Louise Ciccone (born August 16, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Referred to as the \”Queen of Pop\”, she is regarded as one of the most influential figures in popular culture. Born and raised in Michigan, Madonna moved to New York City in 1978 to pursue a career in modern dance. After performing as a drummer, guitarist, and vocalist in the rock bands Breakfast Club and Emmy, she rose to solo stardom with her debut studio album, Madonna. Madonna is the most successful solo artist in the history of the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and holds the record for the most number-one singles by a female artist in Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain, and the United Kingdom. With sales of over 300 million records worldwide, Madonna is certified as the best-selling female recording artist of all time by Guinness World Records. Madonna was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008, her first year of eligibility. She was ranked as the greatest woman in music by VH1 in 2012, and as the great music video artist ofall time by Billboard in 2020. She is also known for pushing the boundaries of artistic expression in mainstream music while remaining completely in charge of every aspect of her career. Her works, which incorporate social, political, sexual, and religious themes, have generated both critical acclaim and controversy. As a businesswoman, Madonna founded the company Maverick in 1992; it included Maverick Records. Her other ventures include fashion brands, children’s books, health clubs, and filmmaking.

She contributes to various charities, having founded Ray of Light Foundation in 1998 and Raising Malawi in 2006. She has two older brothers, Anthony and Martin, and three younger siblings, Paula, Christopher, and Melanie. Her father’s parents were Italian emigrants from Pacentro while her mother was of French-Canadian descent. In 1966, Madonna was unable to sleep unless she was near her father, Tony Ciccone, as he could not be taken from the house. She later acknowledged she had not grasped the concept of her mother dying. Madonna resented housekeepers and rebelled against anyone brought into their place who they thought would try to take the place of their beloved mother. In her youth, Madonna told Vanity Fair that in her youth she was a girl who was searching for something I didn’t care about being good at. But I studied and got good grades and didn’t wear make-up like normal girls do, she said. When she was confirmed in the Catholic Church in 1966, she adopted Veronica as a confirmation name. Her mother died of breast cancer at age 30 on December 1, 1963, and Madonna noticed changes in her behavior and personality, although she did not understand the reason. Madonna later commented about her name, “How could I be anything else but what I am having been named Madonna? I would either have ended up a nun or this.’” She has three younger children.
