Kevin Sinfield

Kevin Sinfield, MBE, is the Director of Rugby for the Leeds Rhinos in the Super League. Sinfield is a former professional rugby league footballer, who captained the Rhinos. His usual position was loose forward, although he sometimes played both stand-off and hooker. He holds records as the highest points-scorer in Super League history, and the third highest point scorer in British rugby league.

His usual position was loose forward, although he sometimes played both stand-off and hooker. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest kickers in rugby league history. He won 26 caps for England, who he captained, and 14 caps for Great Britain. He holds records as the highest points-scorer in Super League history, and the third highest point scorer in British rugby league. He also earned individual accolades as winner of the Lance Todd Trophy, Harry Sunderland Trophy twice and the Golden Boot. He was also named in 2005’s Super League Dream Team, and was selected for the England squad to compete in the 2008 Rugby League World Cup tournament in Australia and Papua New Guinea. In 2007, Sinfield became the first Leeds player to score in every round of a Super League season, which he repeated in the 2011 season including kicking 6 out of 7 goals in the Grand final victory over St. Helens. He set a club record by scoring in 52 consecutive Super League games, as well as scoring his 2,000th Super League point for the club in 2008.

He played his entire professional career with Leeds, having captained them to seven Super League championships and two Challenge Cup successes. His last match for Leeds was the 2008 Super League Grand Final, in which they defeated St Helens for the second successive year. He retired from rugby league at the end of the 2013 season. He has been named in the England World Cup squad for the 2008 World Cup in Australia, where he played in the Group A match against Australia and the World Cup Group B match against New Zealand. In 2009 he played for England at loose forward and kicked four goals from six attempts in England’s first match against Papua Guinea in the 2009 Rugby League Group A World Cup. In 2010 he was selected to play for England in the first match of the 2010 World Cup, against Australia. He made his debut for Leeds RLFC in August 1997, aged 16 against the Sheffield Eagles. He went on to make three further appearances during the 1997 and 1998 seasons, scoring his first try against the Huddersfield Giants.
