Johnny Hekker

John Robert “Johnny” Hekker is an American football punter for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League. He holds the NFL record for longest punt in Super Bowl history, with a 65-yarder that he delivered during Super Bowl LIII. Hekkers is a four-time First Team All-Pro and four- time Pro-Bowler. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

He holds the NFL record for longest punt in Super Bowl history, with a 65-yarder that he delivered during Super Bowl LIII. Hekkers is a four-time First Team All-Pro and four- time Pro-Bowler. He signed a six-year, $18 million contract with the Rams in October 2014. He played college football for the Oregon State Beavers and was named the Sun Bowl Special Teams MVP in 2008. He set a single-game school record with a 52. 5 average against the Utah Utes in 2011. In December 2013, he officially broke the single season record for net punt yards, previously held by Andy Lee  for the San Francisco 49ers. He is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame and was inducted into the NFL Hall of Famer’s Hall of Honor in 2013.

He has been named to the NFL’s All-Decade Team for the past six seasons. He also played for the Washington State Cougars football team during his senior year, leading them to a State Championship game, which they lost. In 2012, he was signed as an unsigned undrafted free player with the St. Louis Rams. In 2013, Hekking was named to NFL’s Team of the Year for the second time in his career. In 2014, he agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team for the next six years. He will also serve as the Rams’ punter in 2015 and 2016, as well as the holder on placekicks. The Rams signed him to a new contract in August 2014, making him a free agent for the rest of the 2014 season. In 2015, he signed a five-year contract worth $16 million, which includes a $1 million signing bonus.
