John Bishop

John Joseph Bishop is an English comedian, presenter, actor, and former footballer. Bishop played for Hyde FC and Southport FC, and was known for having an aggressive style of play. His television debut came on The Panel. He subsequently appeared in the E4 teen drama Skins and in the Ken Loach film Route Irish.

He is also known for his charity work, having raised £4. 2 million for Sport Relief 2012. Bishop performed stand-up comedy for the first time in Manchester in October 2000. His material is drawn from his life’s experiences, including fatherhood, cycling around the world, playing semi-professional football, and working as a nightclub doorman. Bishop has appeared as a panellist on BBC programmes Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You?, and on QI. In March 2011, Bishop was a warm-up for Alan Carr, James Corden, Catherine Tate, and David Walliams in the video for Take That’s single \”Happy Now\” on Comic Relief. On 28 August 2012, he appeared in Accused as Peter Peter for two episodes of BBC genealogy series Who Do You Think You Are? In late 2012, Bishop appeared in an episode of Panto called Panto Vodafone!, where he starred as a local disc jockey called Morecambe and Loud.

On 1 September 2013, Bishop headlined the Sky 1 show John Bishop’s Only Joking on Sky 1. He also headlined the ITV1 show Vodododone! on July 28, 2013, where he headlined the episode called Pantodone Vodaboom! On July 1, 2014, he headlined Sky 1’s Vodoboom! on Sky One called Pantos Panto Panto! On Sky 1 and Sky 1, Bishop hosted the episode Pantos Vodiboom!  on August 1, 2013. He was a celebrity team captain on What Do Kids Know? with Rufus Hound, Joe Swash and Sara Cox on Watch. In December 2009, Bishop started his own TV show on LFC TV called John Bishop Meets…, where he interviewed former Liverpool football players. In 2010, Bishop came runner-up in the second-ever game of How Many Peter Jones’? on ITV’s James CordEN’s World Cup Live.
