About Fennec Shand in brief

Summary Fennec ShandFennec Shand is a fictional character in the Star Wars franchise who appears in the Disney+ television series The Mandalorian. An elite mercenary and assassin, she is sought by the bounty hunters \”The Mandalorian\” and Toro Calican. Portrayed by actress Ming-Na Wen, Fennec is the first major Star Wars villain character portrayed by an Asian actress. Elements of the character’s personality were inspired by the fennec fox, including its trickiness, stealthiness, maneuverability, and ability to survive. The fox also influenced the design of Fennec’s costume and hairstyle. Fennec Shand has been received positively by reviewers and fans alike, and has been described as a fan favorite. She is portrayed as an elite assassin who is very dangerous and very skilled at both firearms and hand-to-hand combat, displaying a sharpshooter’s ability with a sniper rifle. The character is rather stoic in this way, in contrast to the title character, who is usually stoic and silent in the popular Star Wars films. She has been compared to Han Solo in that she is very tricky, playing mind games with her victims, as demonstrated by her attempts to manipulate Toro once captured by the Mandalorian, and by the way she responds to Boba Fett’s attempts to get her to talk to him.

She also has a dark side, as she once tried to kill Fett by shooting him in the stomach, believing she would have killed him if he had released her. Shand returns in the second-season episode ‘The Tragedy’, in which it is revealed that she was rescued by Fett, who nursed her back to health using cybernetics and recruited her as his partner. She makes a deal with him to help protect Grogu, a Force-sensitive alien infant that the Mandalorians has adopted, in exchange for the latter’s old armor. She and Fett vow to help him rescue him from Moff Gideon’s Imperial remnant, but fail to prevent him from being taken by Gideon’s Dark Troopers. She later helps Fett in his mission to recover his old armor from the Mandalian, and later to rescue GrogU in order to honor an agreement made with the latter. She appears in ‘The Gunslinger’, starting the episode in hiding on the desert planet Tatooine, because a large bounty has been placed upon her. The episode ends with an unidentified person wearing boots and a cape walking up to Fennec’s body to investigate, and leaving her body in the desert.
