Faryl Smith appeared on the second series of Britain’s Got Talent in 2008. She was a favourite to win, but finished outside the top three in the live final. She signed a contract with Universal Classics and Jazz for a £2. 3m advance. Her debut album, Faryl, was recorded from December 2008 to January 2009 and released in March 2009. She has since released two albums and performed at numerous events.

Her debut album, Faryl, was recorded from December 2008 to January 2009 and released in March 2009. Smith’s second album, Wonderland, was released in November 2009. She has since released two albums and performed at numerous events. In 2015, Smith began studying music at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She continues to perform regularly, including at major sporting events, such as a Six Nations match at Twickenham Stadium in February 2019. She is the youngest artist ever to receive a double nomination for a BRIT Awards award. In 2010, on account of F Daryl, Smith was nominated for two Classical BRITs and became the youngest ever artist to be nominated for a double BRIT award. Her father, Tony Smith, said: ‘We have had offers from people interested in Faryl. But the big man, Simon Cowell, says your daughter is your idol’ She did not sign with Cowell’s record label Syco, including some of the finalists. She did appear on fellow finalist Andrew Johnston’s debut album One Voice. She also provided vocals for the 2012 album The Magic of a Thousand Strings by the International Harp Ensemble, and has performed at several events, including the 2009 Royal Variety Performance.

She performed a duet of Walking in the Air with Johnston on the Britain’s Got Talent Live Tour with other contestants, where she first performed aduet of ‘Walking in the air’. She said: ‘The day she opens her mouth her voice is just incredible. I’ve ever heard better than her idol, Katherine Katherine, but so far she is by far the most talented I’ve ever heard.’ She said that it was ‘quite possible’ that Cowell would be signing some of her finalists, including herself, after the show. Cowell said it was not possible that it would be possible for him to sign some of them, including Smith, but that he would be ‘very, very interested’ in signing her. She added: “I’m a big fan of her. I love her so much’”. Smith has since gone on to perform at the Royal Variety performance in London and the Royal Albert Hall, and at a number of other major events including the St James’ Park Festival and the Cheltenham Festival of the Arts, as a guest singer for the London Symphony Orchestra. She currently lives in Northamptonshire with her husband and two young children. She lives with her parents in Kettering, Northants, and works as a nanny in Northants.
