Eddie Jerome Vedder is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. He is best known as the lead vocalist, one of three guitarists, and the primary lyricist of the American rock band Pearl Jam. Vedder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam in 2017. His ancestry includes Norway, Dutch, German and Danish.

In 2007, Vedder released his first solo album as a soundtrack for the film Into the Wild. His second album Ukulele Songs and a live DVD titled Water on the Road were released in 2011. Vedder was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Pearl Jam in 2017. He was ranked at number 7 on a list of \”Best Lead Singers of All Time\”, based on a readers’ poll compiled by Rolling Stone. He also appeared as a guest vocalist in Temple of the Dog, the one-off tribute band dedicated to the late singer Andrew Wood. His ancestry includes Norway and Dutch, German and Danish. Vedder’s family fostered seven younger children in a group home in Evanston, Illinois. He had met his biological father briefly as a child, but had believed that Severson was merely an old friend of his parents. By the time Vedder learned the truth, Severson had died of multiple sclerosis. In the early 1980s, while working as a waiter, Eddie earned his high school GED, and briefly attended a community college near Chicago. In 1990, he met former Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Jack Irons, who became a friend of Vedder and would play basketball with him.

He wrote lyrics for three of the songs in what he later described as a \”mini-opera\” entitled Momma-Son-Son. The songs tell the story of a young man, like Vedder, who learns that he had been lied to about his paternity and that his real father is a serial killer, who is eventually imprisoned and sentenced to death. He has three children with his wife, Beth Liebling, and a son with his girlfriend, Frank Liebling. He currently lives in San Diego, California with his family. He and his wife have three children, all of whom are under the age of 20. He lives with his mother in Chicago, and has a daughter with his stepfather, Peter Mueller, who he met through a mutual friend. He now lives in Los Angeles with his daughter and son-in-law, and his daughter has two children with her mother. In 2010, he moved to San Diego to be closer to his wife and two children, and to live with her in the San Diego area. In 2012, he and his son moved to Los Angeles, California, to be near his girlfriend and two other children. In 2013, he married his longtime girlfriend, BethLiebling. In 2014, he had a son, Jake, with whom he has two daughters, Katelyn, and daughter-to-be, Ava. In 2015, he released a solo album, The Last Waltz, which was released in time for the 50th anniversary of his birth.
