Douglas Costa

Douglas Costa de Souza (born 14 September 1990) is a Brazilian footballer who plays for Bundesliga club Bayern Munich, on loan from Juventus, and the Brazil national team. He started his career with Grêmio, before moving to Shakhtar Donetsk in January 2010 for a fee of €6million. He won numerous trophies with Shakhtar, including a domestic treble in the 2010–11 season. In 2015, he joined Bayern for €30million, where he won two consecutive league titles. He was loaned out to Juventus in 2017, and won a domestic double with the club in his first season. On deadline day of the 2020 summer transfer window, Costa returned to Bayern Munich on loan.

He was loaned out to Juventus in 2017, and won a domestic double with the club in his first season. On deadline day of the 2020 summer transfer window, Costa returned to Bayern Munich on loan. A full international since 2014, Costa represented Brazil at the 2015 Copa América and the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He is known for his dribbling skills, speed, acceleration, and crossing ability. He has also been called up to the Brazil squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, but did not make the final squad due to a knee injury. Costa is also a member of the Brazil Under-21 squad, and made his debut for them in a friendly against Argentina in June 2014. He also played in the 2014 African Cup of Nations, and has represented his country at the 2014 Confederations Cup and the 2014 European Championship. Costa has also represented the Brazil under-21 team at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, as well as the 2014 and 2015 European Champions League finals.

He made his debut for GrêMio in October 2008, scoring his first goal in a 2–1 victory over Botafogo on 4 October 2008. On 10 January 2010, he signed a five-year contract with Shaktar Donetsk in a deal worth €6million. On 29 November 2009, he netted the first goal  in a 4–2 victory over Grênio Recreativo Barueri. On 28 September, he scored a penalty, and assisted two Luiz Adriano goals in a 3–0 UEFA Champions League victory over Portuguese club Braga. On 1 April, he made 15 appearances, including 13 league appearances, scoring five goals, all of which came in the league. Costa’s first appearance in the 2010-11 season came in a 7–1 Super Cup win against Tavriya on 4 July, and he netted a brace against Arsenal Kyiv on 30 July. He scored a late goal in Shakhtar’s 2–0 win against Metalurh Zaporizhya on 1 May, and scored the fourth goal in their 5–0 victory over PFC Sevastopol on 9 May. He started the 2011–12 season with a 3-1 loss to Dynamo Kyiv in the Super Cup Final on 5 September, and came on as a 95th-minute substitute in the 3–1 loss. On 16 February, he assisted the second goal, and a third for Luiz Adriano, in a 3–2 victory over Roma. On 25 April, Costa scored a goal in the 4–0  victory against Dynamo Mariupol.
