Public trading began on December 9, 2020.

The company has not recorded a full-year profit since its launch in 2013. It has attracted criticism from several publications, including The New York Times, and later The Verge and Vox, for its tipping policy, which, according to Gothamist, “really looks, feels, and smells like a swindle” In April 2020, a group of New Yorkers sued DoorDash, GrubHub, Postmates, and Uber Eats, accusing them of using their market power monopolistically by only listing restaurants on their apps if the dine-in contracts require prices be the same for customers.
