Die Hard 2 is a 1990 American action-thriller film and the second installment in the Die Hard film series. The film was directed by Renny Harlin, written by Steven E. de Souza and Doug Richardson and stars Bruce Willis as John McClane. The screenplay was adapted from Walter Wager’s 1987 novel 58 Minutes. It is the second in the series to be released in the U.S., after Die Hard With a Vengeance.

The novel has the same plot but differs slightly: a police officer must stop terrorists who take an airport hostage while his wife’s plane circles overhead, and has 58 minutes to do so before the plane crashes. As with the first film, the action in Die Hard 2 takes place on Christmas Eve, one year after the Nakatomi Tower Incident. It was preceded by Die Hard and followed by Die hard with a Vengeance, Live Free or Die Hard, and A Good Day to Die Hard. The film co-stars Bonnie Bedelia, William Sadler, Art Evans, William Atherton, Franco Nero, Dennis Franz, Fred Thompson, John Amos and Reginald VelJohnson. The movie was released on June 29, 1990 in the United States, and was released in Europe on December 11, 1990, and in Australia on December 13, 1990.

It is the second in the series to be released in the U.S., after Die Hard With a Vengeance. It has been released in more than 100 countries, including the UK, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Italy and the Netherlands. The United States has not released a Die Hard sequel since Die Hard 3 in 1998. The U.K. has released two Die Hard sequels, Die Hard 4 and Die Hard 5. The films were released in 2002 and 2004. The third film was Die Hard 6, and the fourth is Die Hard 7, and released in 2007. The fifth film is Diehard 8, and it is released in 2012. The sixth film is the seventh Die Hard, which was released the same day as Die Hard 9. The seventh film was released a year later, on December 14, 2012. It follows the events of Die Hard 8, which took place on December 17, 2012, in New York.
