Danilo Gallinari is an Italian professional basketball player for the Atlanta Hawks of the National Basketball Association. He was drafted sixth overall in the 2008 NBA draft by the New York Knicks. He played with the Knicks for two and a half seasons before being traded to the Denver Nuggets in 2011. In 2013, he signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. His nickname is Gallo, which is Italian for ‘rooster’, and he has his own sneaker, made by Reebok, called ‘The Rooster’

In 2017, he was acquired by the Clippers. His nickname is Gallo, which is Italian for ‘rooster’, and he has his own sneaker, made by Reebok, called ‘The Rooster’ He was named the EuroLeague’s Rising Star award winner for the 2007-08 season. He also won the 2007 Italian All Star Game 3-point shootout contest. He has been named to the NBA’s All-Rookie Team for the 2009-10 NBA season, as well as the NBA All-Defensive Team and the All-Star Game all-star team for the 2008-09 NBA season. In 2010, he set a new career high with 31 points in a 104–101 win over the Boston Celtics.

In 2012, he scored a career-high 30 points in an overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, one short of tying the Knicks franchise record held by Latrell Sprewell and John Starks. In 2013, he signed a two-year contract with the Los Angeles Clippers. He is also a member of the Italian Basketball Association’s Serie B1 team, Casalpusterlengo. His contract with Olimpia Milano had an escape clause for playing professionally in the United States, effectively eliminating major encumbrances that would have prevented him from joining the NBA. On April 23, 2008, he decided to declare himself eligible for the NBA draft. On October 23, 2009, the Knicks picked up GallinARI’s contract option. On February 22, 2011, Gall inari was traded to Denver Nuggets.
