About Cloud (video game) in brief

Summary Cloud (video game)Cloud is a 2005 indie puzzle video game developed by a team of students in the University of Southern California’s Interactive Media Program. The game centers on a boy who dreams of flying while asleep in a hospital bed. The player flies through a dream world and manipulates clouds to solve puzzles. Cloud won the Best Student Philosophy award at the 2006 Slamdance Guerilla Games Competition. Sony declined to publish the game, but has considered remaking Cloud as a commercial video game. It was featured on Spike TV, G4 TV, and CBS Sunday morning, and received a great deal of attention from the gaming press in the United States and around the world. It has been downloaded 600,000 times since it was released as a free download in October 2006, and 6 million people have visited the game’s website since July 2006.

The game was built on a modified version of a game engine developed by several team members for their previous game, Dyadin, which was released in 2004. It is the first game in the ZenZen genre to be released for Microsoft Windows, and the first in the indie video game genre to have been released for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The team behind Cloud went on to co-found the studio Thatgamecompany, which has since released Cloud for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Xbox One X. It also won a number of awards at the Independent Games Festival, including a Student Showcase award.
